The dawning of a new year.

I am one of those people that makes resolutions.  I read somewhere that making new years resolutions are becoming more obsolete, as people rarely stick to them.  I find that so disheartening.  If I can’t hold onto the idea, that I can change, that I can be something better, what hope do I have?

So yes, I make resolutions.  And I admit, I only stick to one or two maximum.  Yet, I still I make them.  I’ll share one of them here.  Domesticity.  I will become more domestic and actually enjoy it.  I am a homely person, but I am not a home maker kind of girl.  I am lot better than I was 5 years ago, but there is definitely room for improvement:-)

I am getting organised for the weddings I have in the upcoming months, and I’ll be shooting in some new places, I haven’t ever been to before so it’s going to be wonderful.  I am also taking bookings for the 2012/13 Summer, and this year I have decided to REALLY limit the weddings I am going to do.  So, if you are thinking about getting in touch – please do, I so hate having to turn couples away!

In December I had lunch with some special girlfriends, whom I seldom see these days.  Next week, I am going to be shooting a wedding at the gorgeous venue, Bracu, where this image was taken.

Kate Shore - Well done Delia, I have never made a new years resolution, because I don’t believe in myself very much. But I admire you for doing it, doing it publicly, and realistically.

May your year be fabulous! See you soon xxx

Merry Christmas!

So I had wanted to do a big Christmas-sy post with a slideshow of all my wonderful clients I have had in 2011, but alas – there is never enough time!  It is Christmas Eve already!  And to risk a cliche, I cannot believe how fast time flies..

2011 has been very kind to me. It has been a fantastic year, and 2012 is looking to be even better, I’ll be travelling a bit more with weddings, from Keri Keri to Sydney to Christchurch, with everywhere in between.  I also have a few surprises up my sleeve, and lots of fun, inspired shoots ahead.  I am making my list of New Years Resolutions, which let’s be honest, I will probably only achieve one or two of them!

A few weeks ago Genevieve went horse riding with her cousins, and although this doesn’t quite have a Christmas feel to it, it does feel rather summery, as it was such a hot day – I got sunburnt!  I probably get sunburnt only once every 3 years.

And for all the photogs that might be curious, its all shot on Fuji Pro 400H.

See you in 2012!

Rob +Shontal. A wedding.

Last month, I had the absolute delight of photographing Rob and Shontal’s wedding.  Rob and I are from the same town and I went to school with Rob and have known him for quite a few years now, so I was so excited to be meeting his wonderful soon to be wife.  For some reason, I hadn’t got the details of the groomsmen before the wedding so when I turned up to where he was getting ready – it turned out to be a mini high school reunion!  It was such a lovely day at a beutiful venue – Chapel of the Cherubs in Waiau Pa.

I think I tear up at every wedding, and this was no exception.

Shontal and Robert – I am so honoured to be there on your wedding day and photograph it for you.  It means more to me that you know.

“I let it fall, my heart,

and as it fell,

you rose to claim it.

It was dark, and I was over,

until you kissed my lips,

and you saved me.”

Mum and Dad

I have had this canvas print for Mum and Dad’s Christmas present for months and months.  Actually at one point I had it hanging up on my living room wall.  My family had their Christmas celebrations this weekend, so I could finally give them their present.  I took this photo when I was home back in July, just as my parents were about to dash off for the evening.  They’ve been married for 33 years.  If that is not love, I don’t know what is.

Emily - love it, delia! i actually just took some shots of my parents on our trip to florida and am planning to give them some for christmas, too. what a treasure. not just for them, but also for you. it’s a beautiful image and the meaning behind it totally seals the deal. i bet they are so proud of you!

delia - thanks Emilyxx
