Sarah + Matthew

If thou must love me, let it be for nought
Except for love’s sake only. Do not say
‘I love her for her smile—her look—her way
Of speaking gently,—for a trick of thought
That falls in well with mine, and certes brought
A sense of pleasant ease on such a day’—
For these things in themselves, Beloved, may
Be changed, or change for thee,—and love, so wrought,
May be unwrought so. Neither love me for
Thine own dear pity’s wiping my cheeks dry,—
A creature might forget to weep, who bore
Thy comfort long, and lose thy love thereby!
But love me for love’s sake, that evermore
Thou mayst love on, through love’s eternity.

Over the summer, I met up with Sarah and Matthew who are set to be wed later this year, and I have waiting for months(!) to share some of my favourite images with you all.    I have known Sarah for a number of years now.  Sarah is a very special girl and I hold her very dear.  It was so wonderful to meet Matthew and spend some time with them.  I love, love photographing engaged couples.  The betrothal period is really often so brief and it is such a warm, enamoured time to hold on to.  Sarah and Matthew, I wish you so many blessings on your journey together through this life.  Love to you.

I have had a very long hiatus here but I am have been slowly working, thinking, reflecting, shooting, doing and stewing over different ideas and paths I would like my photography to take.  As a mum to 4 littlies, I cannot devote as much time as I would like to my craft but I am working on that ever elusive work/life balance.

A few things I have been working on.

Kate - So nice to hear from you xxx

Samuel + Emma

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I love thee to the depth and breadth and height

My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight

For the ends of being and ideal grace.

I love thee to the level of every day’s

Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.

I love thee freely, as men strive for right.

I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.

I love thee with the passion put to use

In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.

I love thee with a love I seemed to lose

With my lost saints.

I love thee with the breath,

Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,

I shall but love thee better after death.

It has been a long long time! But here I am again!

This. wedding.  was. amazing.

Like really amazing!  Emma has been my wedding assistant/second shooter at times, for the last couple of years. Not only is she a super lovely girl she is also a very talented photographer herself!   We have known each other for a long time.  We grew up in the same town, went to the same schools, so we have known each other for a while:-)

Emma had every detail planned out and everything was perfection. Annnnddddd Samuel actually made the wedding cake!  I know, needless to say I was impressed.  I have never been witness to a groom making the wedding cake, he’s not even a baker might I add, an engineer!

And the location, breathtaking, it was around various spots in the Karikari peninsula, I think one of the most gorgeous spots in all of the land.

Emma + Samuel, I was so incredibly touched to be along for the ride.  Thank you!  What an incredible fun day with you all!  I hope you are enjoying your new adventure!  (They have just moved to Scotland  :-) )

Huge thanks to Nicole for second shooting with me!

Ps. grab a cuppa – this is going to be a long post!
